Drying fresh cut flowers involves removing moisture without compromising beautiful color.

There are many different methods.

Here are 4 of the most common ways to preserve fresh cut flowers:

Air drying is the most routinely utilized method for drying flowers. Simply bind a small bouquet of fresh flowers together and hang upside down in a cool, dark space. This method takes 2 to 4 weeks to completion. Air drying is a great way to make dried bouquets perfect for home accents or centrepieces.

Baking involves placing your flowers in a low-temperature oven for a couple of hours. This is a quick method, but, you may find you loose many petals. This technique is not the best for preserving the beautiful color of the flowers.

Pressing flowers involves using a very heavy object to squeeze all of the moisture from the flower. These pressed flowers are great for crafts, stationary, or artwork.

The desiccant method involves submerging flowers in a bed of desiccant, similar to silica gel or kitty litter. The flowers have to sit for a few weeks to absorb the moisture. This method may take a little longer than utilizing the…
