6 Bad Mental Health Habits To Quit
For a better life
There are some habits that can cause serious damage to your personality and wreak havoc with your mental health and happiness.
Want to improve your over-all life and well-being?
Take a look at these bad mental health habits that you need to kick to the curb.
NO PERSONAL BOUNDARIES MEANS NO MENTAL HEALTH
It is imperative to set personal boundaries. And nurture, encourage, and maintain this space. Say NO to avoid burn out, stress and the anxiety that accompanies feeling overwhelmed. Your physical and mental health will quickly deteriorate if you find yourself responding to emails and phone calls after work hours or on weekends and you run the risk of depression and physical ailments. Say YES to personal space and NO to being taken advantage of. Start today.
STOP BEATING YOURSELF UP
Are you your own worst enemy. Why? Unrelenting self-deprecation can cause momentous anxiety, feelings of unworthiness and take a serious toll on your self-confidence. Stop these negative thoughts before they start. Replace them with thoughts of gratitude. Keep a gratitude journal and soon your positive thoughts will out cram the negative.
STOP PLAYING THE VICTIM
Cease taking on the role of the victim. To help to do this, stop blaming other people for your life and circumstances. Take responsibility for your past, present and future and remind yourself that you always do your best.
ACCEPT YOUR EMOTIONS
Avoiding and denying your emotions can have a serious impact on your mental health. Give yourself permission to feel the full range of emotions, from bad to good. Talking about what you are experiencing with a trusted friend will ease the burden of unwanted emotions. We are all human, we all have them.
REDUCE SOCIAL MEDIA OVERLOAD
An access of social media exposure can lead to burnout, anxiety and depression. Find healthy alternatives like exercise, socializing with friends and family, and engaging in creative outlets.
REPLACE COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS WITH YOUR OWN PERSONAL GROWTH
You risk serious damage to your own very special individuality when you compare your life and accomplishments to that of others. This behavior can result in feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem. Stop gauging your self-worth. Focus on your accomplishments, uniqueness, and very special brand of you.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Spend time with family, friends and loved ones. Humans require social contact to, well, feel human. Celebrate your uniqueness. Say no when you want to. It will feel good and protect your well-being. Have a success plan. Concentrate on your personal growth. Blaming others for a less than perfect predicament is so disempowering.
Experience the strength that comes with taking full responsibility for your life.
