ANXIETY, HEALING, AND THE BIRTH OF A BOOK!
My story does not make me unique. There are millions struggling with anxiety, depression, addictions and the like. I suffered immensely; we all do when attempting to heal from these sometimes unrelenting afflictions.
I am not embarrassed by my experience; a three year battle with anxiety and insomnia. It came out of nowhere and knocked me to the ground. Nor am I self conscience about the fact that I sought the help of a therapist.
I got better. I am better. There were days and months when I thought that I would die.
Am I healed from anxiety? I don’t know. Am I in remission? Maybe. Could it come back at any time? I hope not. Upon reflection, I believe a more accurate statement is “My anxiety transformed me. It carved me out like a sculptures knife.” This does not sound grammatically correct but it resonates. My anxiety turned me inside out. From the dull to the shiny side of the foil paper.
My illness took me to the depth of darkness and then into the light. And I am grateful!
My struggle was a brilliant teacher. I learned so much.
I know how it feels to claw out of a deep hole. I know how if feels to think you won’t wake up in the morning. I know how feels to be completely and utterly vulnerable. I know how it feels to spend money on treatment…
