I Think I Have Forgotten How to Write
Starting over
I have been out of the writing game for sometime now, and I feel like I have forgotten how to write. It used to come naturally, or so I thought. Now, I stare at a blank screen.
A day job has zapped my precious writing time and energy. Here I sit, with non-existent stats, pennies in my account, and zero motivation.
What will it take?
I should commit a certain amount of time everyday to writing. I should pick a time and a space and let nothing come between me and my genius.
I should consider my passions. What excites, motivates, and inspires me? Inspiring others is important. How ironic.
Should I believe this:
Do not worry. You have always written before, and you will write now.
Ernest Hemingway
or this:
You only fail if you stop writing! Oops!
The experts recommend:
- read as much as you can
- think about joining a writing group
- use writing prompts to get you going
- write in your journal
- give old articles new life
- take a writing class
- look for inspiration everywhere
- write for fun
Well, I guess it’s a start.
Thanks for reading!!!
